Freelance Merchandise Designer – Catalyst Dance Company About Us Catalyst Dance Company is a new dance studio built around the idea of passion, discipline, and performance. Our brand is modern, bold, and clean—not cartoonish or overly playful. We’re looking for a designer who can create apparel that dancers, parents, and supporters will genuinely want to wear both inside and outside the studio. What You’ll Do You’ll receive access to our Bonfire account and be responsible for designing and publishing new merchandise collections. Responsibilities include: * Design t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, tanks, and other apparel in Bonfire. * Create original, high-quality designs that align with the Catalyst Dance Company brand. * Incorporate our existing branding, logos, and typography into tasteful apparel designs. * Design merchandise featuring inspirational dance quotes and Catalyst-themed sayings. * Create seasonal collections (Back to Dance, Competition Season, Holiday, Nationals, Summer, etc.). * Ensure every design is production-ready and optimized for apparel printing. * Publish products within our Bonfire store. Design Style We’re Looking For This is the most important part. We are not looking for: * Cartoon graphics * Cute clip art * Generic dance silhouettes * Busy or outdated designs * Cookie-cutter dance merchandise We are looking for: * Modern, premium apparel designs * Minimalist or athletic-inspired aesthetics * Streetwear and lifestyle influences * Vintage washed and collegiate-inspired looks * Clean typography * Bold graphics that dancers would actually wear Think Nike, Lululemon, Alo, Gymshark, or boutique dance brands—not elementary recital merchandise. Brand Themes Our branding centers around fire, growth, strength, and transformation. Examples include: * Ignite the Stage * Forged Through Passion * Fuel the Fire * Rise. Train. Perform. * Built Different * More Than a Studio * Dance. Discipline. Dedication. We’re also open to fresh, original quote ideas that fit our brand. Requirements * Experience designing apparel (portfolio required) * Strong typography skills * Experience with apparel mockups * Ability to follow an established brand identity * Creative enough to develop original concepts—not just place a logo on a shirt * Experience with Bonfire is a plus, but not required Project Structure This will start as a freelance project with the opportunity for ongoing work. We’d like new merchandise released on a regular basis throughout the year. When applying, please include: * A portfolio of apparel designs * Examples of typography-based designs * Any experience creating merchandise for sports teams, dance studios, fitness brands, or lifestyle brands * Your pricing (per design or hourly) We’re looking for someone who can become our go-to merchandise designer and help build a collection that our dancers and families are excited to wear.
